DAY 1 Day 1: Featured activities: Sacsayhuaman, Qoricancha, Cathedral

This fabulous half-day tour takes you to all the most important sites in Cusco. Including visits to the Cusco Cathedral, the Temple of the Sun (Qoricancha), and various Inca sites outside the city, you’ll see an incredible blend of Inca and Spanish styles, and in the case of Qoricancha, a combination of both. Cusco is truly a fascinating place to visit; with its mix of Inca and Spanish cultures, the city has a unique appearance unlike any other in Peru. This tour is a must-do when visiting Cusco and is often one of the first stops for tourists.

At 1:30 pm, we will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to begin the tour.

The Cathedral, also known as the Basilica Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin, is the main church in the city of Cusco. The tour begins by entering the cathedral through the Church of the Holy Family and continues through the entire cathedral complex, including the adjacent Church of the Triumph. The tour then proceeds with a visit to the most important religious site of the Incas, Qorikancha. The Temple of the Sun was the center of the entire Inca religious complex, making Cusco the Holy City of the Incas. Today, it is still possible to observe the advanced engineering and architectural techniques developed and used by the Incas. Afterward, take the bus to the upper part of the city to visit…

This Inca archaeological site is known as the “Ceremonial Temple of Sacsayhuaman.” Here you can see the enormous megalithic walls, among the largest architectural works from the height of the Inca Empire. Located about 2 kilometers from the city, this site also offers an unparalleled panoramic view of the city and its surroundings. Continue to Qenqo

This Inca worship site, dedicated to magical-religious rituals, is of particular interest because of its semicircular amphitheater and the underground passages that continue to Puca Pucara.

This archaeological site is a military fortress with large walls, terraces, and steps. It formed an important part of Cusco’s defenses. Continue to Tambomachay.

This temple was built for water worship, as well as a retreat for the Inca king to rest. It contains a series of aqueducts, canals, and waterfalls that flow over the rocks. Even today, the original source of the water remains unknown.
